Bluewater Productions is a fully independent studio that finances its own films — which means there is no one above us. No outside money. No studio notes. No constraints.
A lot of studios call themselves "independent," and many genuinely are in spirit. But when it comes time to actually greenlight a film, most still have to partner with a major studio or an outside financier to fund it — and money always comes with strings. Final cut, casting, budget, release date, the shape of the story itself: the people writing the checks get a say. We built Bluewater specifically so that never happens here. We fund our own slate, so the only people who decide what a Bluewater film becomes are the filmmakers making it.
Control never leaves the building. We hold full creative and administrative control of every project, beginning to end. Because the financing is ours, there's no committee to please and no outside cut of the film to approve. The vision that starts a movie is the vision that reaches the screen.
Lean by design, not by limitation. Staying fully independent doesn't mean doing everything with our own hands. We keep our overhead low and partner with the best vendors and service providers in the world to execute — but they work to our vision, on our terms. We use them; they don't steer us. That's how we make more films, and make them better.
Every stage of a Bluewater film runs through us. Here's the journey a movie takes, start to finish.
It starts with a story worth telling — one of our own originals, or a bold idea from a filmmaker we believe in. We develop it in-house, shaping script and vision before a single dollar is committed elsewhere.
DevelopWe finance it ourselves. There's no pitch to a major studio, no outside investors deciding the film's fate. If we believe in it, we fund it — which means the greenlight comes with complete freedom attached.
FinanceWe make the movie. We bring in world-class collaborators, crews, and vendors to execute at the highest level — directed entirely by us. Lean, focused, and uncompromised, with the filmmakers in command of every decision.
ProduceWe build the campaign and shape how the film meets the world — trailers, positioning, the whole rollout — on our own strategy and timeline, never handed off to someone whose priorities aren't the movie's.
MarketWe carry it all the way to the big screen and into the hands of audiences. From the first idea to opening night, the film was ours the entire way — and it reaches you exactly as it was meant to.

We're a group of filmmakers who simply love making movies — and who believe a film is only as good as what it gives the person watching it.
We love all of it. Serious films and popcorn cinema. Every genre there is. We want to make movies that bring people together — that you watch alone, or with your family, and remember. We believe making movies is a craft, and every film we make will strive to be the best we're capable of. But craft is only half of it. A movie is only as good as the people who receive it, and that's really why we do this: to serve the audience. Whether you laugh, or cry, or feel something you didn't expect, those emotions are what movies and television can give us — and creating that, for even one viewer who feels it, is the whole point. That's the human experience we're here to make.
